Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Mammography Supervisor. The successful candidate will:
- Supervise and perform the duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of Diagnostic Imaging equipment.
- Ensure that all standard of care is met for our patient population.
- Ensure standards for all regulatory agencies such as the Joint Commission, ACR, FDA, and NY Dept. of Health are met.
- Provide area assignments of personnel and coordinates activities within the department, with other departmental activities and services of the hospital.
- Be responsible for the procurement and storage of supplies.
- Be responsible for providing statistical information to determine work patterns, patient flow, budgetary information, and fiscal requirements.
- Provide good customer service to our patent population and co-workers.
- Become fully knowledgeable of departmental policies and procedures including quality assurance and performance improvement.
- Develop and introduce new techniques and procedures.
- Monitor and enhance the program for QC and QA standards; provides supervisory oversight for Mammography and Bone Density Department; ensures staff compliance with patient identification standards.
- Ensure staff compliance with infection control standards to include PPE (personal protective equipment) guidelines.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide resolution for various operational Issues in radiology and to communicate such with different levels of hospital personnel.
- Perform mammography imaging procedures at a technical level; includes obtaining a pertinent clinical and medical history of patients.
- Demonstrate knowledge in the effects of radiation exposure, radiation procedures, computer applications, and Imaging techniques.
- Be responsible for safety precautions for patients and workers in regards to radiation exposure.
- Assist in training student technologists and medical students rotating through the department.
- Assist in orientation and implementation of new techniques, research projects, and In-service educations, as directed.
- Assist with radiology performance improvement projects to include data collections
- Demonstrate accountability for departmental-related duties and responsibilities.
- Utilize computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information System, PACS, PenRad, and Hologic equipment
