Job Summary:

The Department of Emergency Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor (HS). The successful candidate will:

  • Perform all functions of an attending Emergency Medicine physician in all areas of the Emergency Department (Main, Fast Track, Pediatrics). 
  • Be accountable for medical management, utilization of appropriate consultations, and timely patient dispositions while appropriately supervising resident physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. 
  • Create timely and accurate medical records communicating the care rendered and decision making process.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative and collegial disposition and adhere to the highest professional standards. 

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Medical License.
  • Board certified in Emergency Medicine or Board eligible if residency was completed within the prior 5-years. 
  • If Board certified, must maintain PALS certification.
  • If Board eligible, must maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS certifications.
